Important security update

A serious security issue has been reported in PHP, software used by many websites.

As a precaution, we have temporarily taken most servers and websites that may be affected offline. Your website or another service may therefore be unavailable at the moment. We are working on a safe solution and will apply the necessary updates as soon as possible.

Help your email reach the inbox

Help your email reach the inbox

Imagine sending newsletters, quotations or other important emails, only to find they sometimes land in spam or recipients question their authenticity. This is where DKIM helps.

What is DKIM?

DKIM stands for DomainKeys Identified Mail. It allows receiving servers to verify a signature associated with your domain and check that the signed content has not changed in transit. Major providers such as Gmail and Outlook use it as one signal when assessing messages.

Benefits

  • Better deliverability: Proper authentication can reduce the chance of legitimate messages being treated as spam.
  • Greater confidence: It helps receiving systems establish that a message was authorised by the signing domain.
  • Protection against abuse: Combined with other authentication standards, it helps combat domain impersonation, spam and phishing.

How does it work?

  1. A private and public key pair is created.
  2. The public key is published in DNS.
  3. Your email software signs messages with the private key.
  4. Receiving servers use the public key to verify the signature.

What can go wrong?

  • An incorrect DNS record prevents verification.
  • A server changes signed content in transit, invalidating the signature.
  • Missing or incorrect SPF and DMARC settings can still cause authentication and delivery problems.

Ready to configure DKIM?

DKIM is an important part of professional, authenticated email. Read the Base4 setup guide. Configuration can be technical, but you do not need to do it alone.

We can help with:

  • Generating the public and private keys.
  • Creating the correct DNS records.
  • Configuring Base4.
  • Testing the result alongside SPF and DMARC.
